WHAT HAVE WE ACHIEVED

Case Study

Whitefriars: CSBC in partnership with Whitefriars Housing Group, through their main contractor Wates, was jointly recognised for innovative approaches in achieving community engagement objectives. As a measure of our commitment to the local residents and our partners, CBSC had a local office based in Coventry, which facilitated the improvement programme and our commitment to employing local people.

Our contract with Whitefriars Housing Group had a value of £3 million, delivering the housing association’s property improvement programme across the city of Coventry. Throughout that time, CBSC consistently and successfully hit its targets and maintained the level and quality of work expected of professional craftsmen. The scope of the work included capital improvement programmes (kitchen and bathroom refits including re-wiring and central heating upgrades) as well as building extensions and DFG projects.

The success of this programme in supporting a BME led business and creating opportunities for the local community for training and employment, has received regional national recognition, most notably from the Housing Corporation and the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Several housing associations and local authorities have sited our approach as a model of best practice for investing in the communities in which they serve.
